WINTER SOCIAL & CLOTHING EXCHANGE

This event is a happy hour meets mini clothing exchange. We’re thrilled to collaborate with Bar Carlo’s chef and owner, Mel, and events coordinator, Josh, who have made it part of Bar Carlo’s mission to support women entrepreneurs and community building in Portland.
You must purchase a ticket and bring items to exchange in order to participate.
Timing: Please arrive between 3:30 and 4:15pm. This will give us time to take in your items and hang them before shopping begins at 4:30pm. This will also give you time to get snacks and drinks and socialize.
WHAT TO BRING
Each person will bring 5-10 items to exchange on the day of. We will assign tokens based on the number of items you bring (1 item = 1 token); you can bring up to 10 items from the list below.
Items should be gently used, clean, and free of stains—if you wouldn’t give it to a friend, please don’t bring it!
We will do a quick review of items when you check in and reserve the right to refuse any items that don’t meet our criteria. Thank you for helping make this a good exchange for everyone :)
We also welcome you to bring clothing of all sizes. It's also likely that most participants (and therefore most clothing) will identify as femme, and we welcome anyone with this clothing preference.
Because this exchange will have a smaller number of items, please be selective and bring 5-10 items (clothing, shoes, accessories, bags) from the following list:
Quality or local brands (e.g., Madewell, Everlane, Altar PDX, Anthropologie, Free People, & Other Stories, Reformation, Jungmaven, Sezane, Rudy Jude, Hey Gang, Ilana Kohn, Doen, Lisa Says Gah, Alex Mill, Staud, Afends, Loup, James Street Co., Daydreamer, —these are just examples, definitely not limited to these brands!)
High-quality or unique vintage items
Unique or interesting fast fashion items (e.g., unique dress, linen, 100% cotton, fun colors/patterns, on-trend denim, something you bought second hand because it was unique!)
Sneakers, sandals, clogs, heels, boots, flats, etc. (e.g., Birkenstock, Chacos, Lottie from Stockholm, Swedish Hasbeens, Dansko, Superga, Adidas, Nike, New Balance, Gola, Jeffrey Campbell, Hoka—definitely not limited to these brands!)
Leather goods (e.g., bags, boots)
Purses, fanny packs, backpacks, etc.
High quality jackets and coats

Registration for this event has closed.
You will bring up to 30 items to exchange: clothes, shoes, bags, accessories (no jewelry please). You will drop off your items at least 1 week ahead of time (by Oct. 18; drop off locations given at time of registration) to give us time to assign tokens, sort, and display. Then you’ll show up on the day for 2 hours of shopping, socializing, and snacking.
We will assign tokens to each item, giving you a total number of tokens to “shop” with. We will assign tokens based on quality of the items you bring:
4 tokens: high quality brands (e.g., Reformation, Jungmaven, Sezane, Rudy Jude, Hey Gang, Ilana Kohn, Doen, Babaa, Loup); vintage in excellent condition; high quality leather goods, shoes, and coats in excellent or new condition
3 tokens: middle quality brands (e.g., Madewell, Everlane, Eileen Fisher, Anthropologie, Free People, & Other Stories, Gap, J. Crew); vintage items in good condition; leather goods, shoes, and coats in good condition
2 tokens: unique fast fashion items in new/excellent/good condition
1 token: all other items

ALSO! We will have an on-site sewist available for mending and alterations, Paige McKenzie (@thankspaige on IG). You can bring items from home that you aren’t exchanging or have Paige work on items you find at the event. Rates vary.

Each person will bring 5-10 items to exchange on the day of. While we hang and organize, you’ll have time to enjoy drinks, appetizers, and good company before the shopping begins. We’ll have the run of the restaurant! And if you haven’t seen it before, it’s gorgeous.
